Job summary

Trane Technologies is recruiting a Controls Estimator to join our team. You will prepare cost estimates for HVAC controls projects, including materials, labor, and subcontractors, and develop detailed proposals for bid opportunities.

You will work closely with Account Managers to define scope, review plans, and identify cost-saving opportunities while ensuring on-time and on-budget project delivery. Travel locally as required and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating, engineering or construction management.
• Knowledge of Building Automation/HVAC controls preferred.
• Ability to read plans, details and specifications.
• Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budgets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates including materials, subcontractors, equipment and labor.
• Develop detailed scope and take-off from plans for bidding.
• Create cost estimates with sketches, scope, exclusions, quotes and vendor quotes.
• Quantify purchased equipment and verify quantities and configurations.
• Lead pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope and strategy.
• Identify cost saving opportunities and negotiate with vendors/sub-contractors.
• Assist Account Manager and Operations to control cost variations.
