Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Controls Estimator to provide detailed estimates for HVAC controls projects, collaborating with building owners and Account Managers. You will deliver comprehensive cost proposals, develop scope from plans, and ensure alignment with energy-efficient building solutions.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• Experience with Building Automation, HVAC Controls and HVAC Systems preferred.
• Interpreting construction documents including plans, details and specifications.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems with strong financial acumen.
• Experience running projects on time and on budget.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a high paced environment.
• Experience with building owners is a plus.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours and travel locally with a valid license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates including materials, labor, equipment and subcontractors.
• Develop scope definitions from design-build plans and competitive bids.
• Create detailed estimates with sketches, vendor quotes and take-offs.
• Price purchased equipment ensuring quantity and configuration accuracy.
• Lead pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to discuss scope and strategy.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage cost variations with vendors.
• Assist Accounts Manager with engineering involvement and cost control.
