Job summary

Trane Technologies in Saint Paul, MN is seeking an Applications Engineer to shape HVAC controls offerings. You will act as SME for controls fulfillment, contribute to design, testing, and field validation of system applications and control software.

Responsibilities include developing applications, testing strategies, and providing technical guidance to product engineers and managers in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required: BS in Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years in building automation systems, HVAC controls execution, or system application engineering.
• Experience fulfilling HVAC controls projects from handoff through turnover.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for HVAC system applications, interfaces, and 3rd-party integration.
• Monitor industry trends to influence product feature roadmaps.
• Collaborate with engineering to evaluate feasibility and resolve issues.
• Support field office sales and operations with commercialization knowledge.
• Author and review engineering bulletins, guides, and best practices.
• Present technical topics to internal and external audiences.
• Participate in customer visits, field events, and critical project support.
• Define scope and requirements for next-gen HVAC system applications.
• Design and deploy system-level custom applications and control logic.
• Execute comprehensive testing strategies using modeling, simulation, and HIL testing.
