Job summary

Harris Companies in Upper Marlboro, MD is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support HVAC construction projects. You will manage document control, RFIs, field meetings, and quality control documentation while assisting with procurement, estimation, and labor tracking in a team environment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years in the building & construction industry, with strong mechanical systems knowledge and ability to read construction documents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of knowledge/experience of the building & construction industry.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and comprehend construction documents.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles.
• Understanding of business administration and management principles.
• Strong interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communication in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Review, organize and distribute Contract Documents (drawings, specs, schedules, RFIs, etc.) to team members.
• Distribute and log all activities for the team.
• Assist in drafting, submitting and tracking RFIs and responses.
• Attend field coordination meetings and distribute notes.
• Assist in administration of project quality control and compile documentation.
• Administer/update progress and as-built drawings.
• Administer project closeout documentation (OM manuals, startup reports, owner training, punch lists).
• Assist in identification, tracking and reporting of scope changes.
• Maintain equipment procurement logs and rentals.
• Perform site walkthroughs and assist in safety compliance.
• Coordinate with suppliers/vendors to estimate projects using estimating software.
• Track labor productivity in accounting software.
