Job summary

Howell Chase Heating & Air Conditioning in Bluffton, SC is seeking an experienced HVAC & Plumbing Service Manager to lead our service operations and drive growth. This hands-on leadership position combines field work with management responsibilities, reporting to the service leadership and coordinating with dispatch.

The ideal candidate has prior service-management experience, strong technical background, and a proven ability to supervise technicians, monitor KPIs, and deliver outstanding

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and hold technicians accountable for performance.
• Manage day-to-day service department operations.
• Support technicians with troubleshooting and difficult service calls.
• Monitor productivity, revenue, average ticket, callbacks, close rates, and other KPIs.
• Conduct regular technician meetings, training, coaching, and performance reviews.
• Ensure technicians provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally with homeowners.
• Help develop technicians' technical, communication, and sales skills.
• Review service calls and identify opportunities to improve performance.
• Work closely with dispatch and office staff to maintain efficient scheduling and workflow.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new technicians.
• Ensure company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards are consistently followed.
• Address customer concerns and assist with escalated situations when necessary.
• Help control labor, materials, warranty work, callbacks, and other service department expenses.
• Maintain a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and customer service.
• Work with company leadership to achieve department revenue and profitability goals.

Base Salary: $70,000-$80,000 annually

Howell Chase is seeking an experienced HVAC & Plumbing Service Manager to lead our service operations and help drive the continued growth of our team.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands the service business from both sides — leading technicians and working in the field. The ideal candidate has previous management experience along with a strong technical background in HVAC and/or plumbing.

What You’ll Do

• Lead, coach, and hold HVAC and plumbing service technicians accountable for performance

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• Previous HVAC and/or plumbing service management experience
• Previous hands-on technician experience
• Strong understanding of residential service operations
• Proven ability to lead and hold technicians accountable
• Strong technical troubleshooting knowledge
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills
• Ability to coach technicians on both technical performance and customer communication
• Comfortable reviewing KPIs and using performance data to manage the department
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skillsValid driver's license

Preferred:

• Experience managing both HVAC and plumbing service operations
• ServiceTitan or similar field-service software experience
• Experience managing department revenue, labor, budgets, and profitability
• Experience recruiting, training, and developing service technicians

Compensation

$70,000-$80,000 base salary annually, based on experience and qualifications.
