Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Field Services Engineer/Technician to participate in inspection, testing, and troubleshooting of moderately complex electrical systems across HV substations. You will learn protective relay testing with Omicron and Doble equipment, document activities, and support field teams in Florida or the Carolinas.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and urgency, with travel up to 80% and collaboration with contractors, engineers, and field leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 7+ years in electrical testing, including medium/high voltage circuit breakers and substations protections.
• Experience with protective relays and testing sets (Omicron/Doble).
• Familiarity with NETA, IEEE, NFPA standards and field safety practices.
• Able to read electrical drawings and document field activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning on Protection and Control systems at high voltage substations.
• Conduct on-site relay testing using Omicron Doble equipment; test relays such as SEL, GE, and others.
• Document field activities using logs, forms, and digital tools.
• Support project leads, escalate complex issues, and mentor junior technicians.
• Maintain safety, quality, and regulatory compliance on active job sites.
