Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Field Services Engineer/Technician to perform testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of medium to high voltage electrical systems across the southeastern U.S. The role involves using protective relay test equipment, following IEEE/NETA/NFPA standards, and coordinating with field teams.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, 7 years HV testing experience, willingness to travel up to 80%, and strong safety focus.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 7 years of electrical testing experience including HV circuit breakers, transformers, and substation protection testing.
Expertise with transmission, generation, and distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE) and protective schemes.
Relay calibration using Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150; control scheme testing; CT/PT circuits; uploading settings to microprocessor relays.
Familiarity with NETA, IEEE, NFPA electrical testing standards.

Responsibilities

Perform testing and commissioning tasks for Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations.
Conduct on-site protective relay testing with specified relay test sets.
Document site activities using field forms and digital tools.
Assist Project Lead or Field Supervisor and mentor junior technicians.
Escalate complex issues and maintain safety and quality standards on site.
Prepare field logs, sketches, and digital reports; support subcontractor oversight.
