Job summary

IPX Power is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead end-to-end HV/MV design for utility-scale solar and storage projects, spanning interconnection, substations, and transmission studies from development to operations.

You will guide field troubleshooting, drive reliability upgrades, ensure NERC/CAISO/ERCOT compliance, and collaborate with EPCs, utilities, and regulators. A strong background in protection, SCADA, and power system modeling, plus 8+ years, is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years leading HV substation design (345-500 kV) and MV collection systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and technical review of HV substations (115kV-500kV), transmission interconnections, and MV collection systems (34.5kV-480V).
• Direct EPCs, Engineers of Record, and consultants to optimize design, reduce risk, and manage schedule/cost targets.
• Own interconnection scope including ISO reviews and technical negotiations with ISOs/utilities (CAISO, ERCOT).
• Lead field-informed troubleshooting of system events, relay operations, misoperations, nuisance trips, and equipment failures.
• Perform root-cause analysis using relay event reports, oscillography, Substation SCADA data, and equipment diagnostics.
• Define and implement upgrade and retrofit projects to improve reliability and performance.
• Provide NERC and regional regulatory compliance support (CAISO/ERCOT).
• Support Operations with ongoing technical issue resolution and optimization.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, technical specifications, EPC exhibits, and testing protocols.
• Witness and evaluate FAT/SAT, commissioning, and energization activities.
• Support EPC RFPs and supply agreements by defining technical requirements.
• Contribute to Independent Engineer diligence and project financing.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration to resolve permitting and regulatory constraints.
