Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC seeks a motivated High Voltage Electronics Engineer Intern to join the ERS team onsite. The internship supports building an Analog HV Battery Control Box benchtop training and test rig to train new engineers on HV safety and characterize HV subsystems ahead of vehicle integration.

You will work with experienced electrical engineers across build phases, gaining exposure to analog safety-critical design, PCB layout for high voltage, and HV commissioning

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
• Experience in analog circuit design and PCB layout.
• Willing to obtain GMPPU HV safety certification before hands-on work.

Responsibilities

• Assist schematic capture and component selection for HV safety path under build lead guidance.
• Support PCB layout reviews for HV creepage/clearance (IEC 60664) and document margins.
• Draft and pilot-test HV safety curriculum procedures (safety fundamentals, precharge, IMD operation).
• Participate in bench testing and data collection during rig commissioning under supervision.
• Document test results, progress, and design decisions for safety case review package.
• Support HV subsystems characterization as the rig expands to ERS test capability.
• Observe HV safety procedures (LOTO, HVIL checks, insulation-resistance testing).
• Handle additional tasks as needed.
