Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a motivated High Voltage Electronics Engineer Intern to join our ERS team in Concord, NC. The internship supports building an Analog HV Battery Control Box benchtop training and test rig to train new engineers on HV safety fundamentals and to characterize HV subsystems ahead of vehicle integration.

You will work with experienced electrical engineers on analog safety-critical design, PCB layout for HV, and HV commissioning practices used in a Formula 1 power

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Coursework or lab project experience in analog circuit design (op-amps, comparators, discrete logic).
• Basic understanding of electrical safety principles; willing to complete GMPPU HV safety certification before hands‑on HV work.
• Strong attention to detail and disciplined documentation habits.
• Ability to work on-site in Concord, NC for the duration of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Support schematic capture and component selection for the HV safety path under the build lead.
• Assist with PCB layout reviews for HV creepage/clearance compliance and document design margins.
• Help draft and pilot-test procedures for HV training curriculum modules.
• Participate in bench testing and data collection during rig commissioning under supervision.
• Document test results, build progress, and design decisions to support safety case review.
