Job summary

ABB in Mebane, NC seeks an on-site Electrical Test Technician responsible for prototyping and testing distribution switchgear. You will handle material coordination, assemble and modify test articles, and perform high voltage and high current tests while verifying results and maintaining equipment.

Candidates should have a 2-year degree in electrical technology or related experience, with up to 2 years in electrical engineering/testing and familiarity with electrical safety and instrumentation.

Qualifications

• 2-year degree in electrical/electronic technology or equivalent experience.
• 0-2 years of experience in electrical engineering and/or testing environment.
• Experience and understanding of electrical systems and electrical safety.
• Experience with meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, test, and data acquisition systems.
• Experience with low voltage and medium voltage switchgear.

Responsibilities

• Material handling and coordination for test projects.
• Assembly and modifications of test objects.
• Safely execute high voltage and high current testing.
• Understand and verify test results.
• Identify and help create new test equipment and fixtures to improve efficiency of testing.
• Maintain existing test equipment.
