Southland Companies is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Human Resources Generalist with 3-6 years experience to oversee the HR Function and join our hard-working team. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter with experience in recruiting, employee relations and payroll. This position has the potential to grow in their career along with the department. They would partner with the executive team to learn and execute our company’s strategies and execute on it’s needs.
You would be a trusted resource to hiring-managers as we continue to reshape our current businesses and add more to our portfolio. You would manage our bi-weekly payroll process and ensure it runs smoothly, while making suggestions to improve efficiency. The ideal candidate can think on their feet, juggle responsibilities and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities
- Coordinate recruiting activities across the full talent-acquisition cycle
- Source candidates with relevant experience through a variety of channels and help build active talent pipelines for current and future openings
- Prepares and processes multiple payrolls bi-weekly
- Schedule interviews, manage communication with applicants, and ensure each candidate receives timely updates throughout the process
- Completes reference and background checks
- Stay updated on local compensation and benefit trends
- Develop a program to conduct cyclical performance reviews and provide feedback to employees across our companies
- Oversee and Process employee updates including new hires, status changes, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
- Work closely with management to strengthen workplace relationships, improve engagement, increase retention, and foster a positive organizational culture.
- Provide guidance to department directors and supervisors regarding complex employee relations issues
- Develop, review, and implement personnel policies and procedures
- Build organizational credibility for HR through responsive service delivery, sound judgment, consistent policy application, and strong relationships across all levels of the organization
- Partner with business leaders to align talent and organizational strategies with business priorities
- Ensure consistent implementation of company policies, procedures, and HR best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
- 3-6+ years' experience in Human Resources
- Familiarity with full-cycle recruiting, including pre-employment and onboarding steps
- Experience managing and executing bi-weekly payroll using payroll software
- Familiarity with applicable state and federal payroll and related tax regulations, legislation and guidelines
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities at once
- Attention to detail and good judgement
- Self-starter with a proven ability to identify priorities, take initiative, and follow projects through to completion
