Job summary

Jobot, based in Lathrop, CA, seeks an experienced HR Leader to guide talent acquisition, retention, and development for a high‑volume manufacturing site. You will partner with plant leadership and corporate HR to create scalable talent plans and lead a team of HR Generalists.

You will navigate California wage/hour law, FEHA/CFRA, PDL, PAGA, and safety-compliant processes, while supporting a 24/7 operation and driving workforce strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum five years of progressive HR leadership experience.
  • Minimum three years direct people-leadership experience.
  • Current California-based experience with extensive knowledge of California labor and employment law.
  • Plant-level HR experience in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading talent acquisition, employee retention, employee development, and workforce-planning initiatives.
  • Strong experience managing complex employee-relations matters and workplace investigations.
  • Ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation, including nights or weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR leader and strategic business partner for the Lathrop manufacturing facility.
  • Lead the plant’s transition toward a talent-focused HR service model centered on recruiting, retention, employee development, and workforce planning.
  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried plant positions in partnership with corporate HR.
  • Develop and implement employee-retention strategies that support business growth.
  • Build talent-development, succession-planning, training, and leadership-development programs.
  • Partner with plant leadership to identify workforce requirements and create scalable talent plans.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the onsite HR Generalist team and set service expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with California labor and employment law, including wage and hour regulations, FEHA, CFRA, PDL, PAGA, meal/rest periods, and IWC Wage Orders.
  • Manage employee relations matters and conduct objective, legally defensible investigations.
  • Coach leaders on performance management, corrective action, and risk management.
  • Oversee leaves of absence and accommodations under FMLA/CFRA/PDL/ADA/FEHA.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel on pre-litigation matters and claims.
  • Lead performance reviews, calibration, succession planning and improvement processes.
  • Analyze HR trends to guide leadership decisions and maintain accurate HRIS data.

  • Develop and implement employee-retention strategies that support business growth and workforce stability.
  • Build talent-development, succession-planning, training, and leadership-development programs.
  • Partner with plant leadership to identify workforce requirements and create scalable talent plans.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the onsite HR Generalist team while establishing clear service and performance expectations.
  • Serve as the facility’s subject‑matter expert on California labor and employment law, including wage‑and‑hour regulations, FEHA, CFRA, PDL, PAGA, meal and rest periods, and applicable IWC Wage Orders.
  • Manage complex employee‑relations matters and conduct thorough, objective, and legally defensible workplace investigations.
  • Coach leaders regarding performance management, corrective action, performance improvement plans, and organizational risk.
  • Oversee leaves of absence and interactive accommodation processes involving FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA, and FEHA.
  • Partner with outside legal counsel on pre‑litigation matters, investigations, and employment‑related claims.
  • Lead performance reviews, talent calibration, succession planning, and performance‑improvement processes.
  • Analyze HR trends and workforce metrics to develop solutions and guide plant leadership decisions.
  • Maintain accurate HRIS data, employee records, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Support the utilization of Paylocity and employee‑training platforms such as Poka and Alchemy.
  • Develop and update HR policies, procedures, manager training, and compliance programs.
  • Ensure required California and federal notices, postings, records, and employee training remain current.
  • Support a 24/7 manufacturing workforce, including occasional availability during nights or weekends.
  • Maintain compliance with GMP, GFSI, workplace‑safety, product‑quality, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications Needed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum five years of progressive HR leadership experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Minimum three years of direct people‑leadership experience managing an HR team.
  • Current California‑based experience with extensive knowledge of California labor and employment law.
  • Plant‑level HR experience within a high‑volume, fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading talent acquisition, employee retention, employee development, and workforce‑planning initiatives.
  • Strong experience managing complex employee‑relations matters and workplace investigations.
  • Working knowledge of California wage‑and‑hour requirements, FEHA, CFRA, PDL, PAGA, meal and rest periods, and IWC Wage Orders.
  • Experience advising operational leaders on performance management, corrective action, accommodations, leaves, and organizational risk.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic HR leadership with hands‑on plant support.
  • Experience working within a larger, structured organization with formal HR programs, systems, and leadership training.
  • Ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation, including occasional nights or weekends.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred:
  • Food and beverage manufacturing experience.
  • Experience supporting a rapidly growing manufacturing organization.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Paylocity experience.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or SHRM‑SCP certification.
  • Experience using Poka, Alchemy, or comparable manufacturing training platforms.
  • HR Director‑level scope within a large manufacturing organization.
