Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of professional HR experience for Level II; Master’s degree or equivalent for Level II.
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of professional HR experience for Level III; Master’s plus 1 year or equivalent.
  • Relevant HR experience should include recruitment, personnel administration, classification, compensation, benefits, and payroll administration.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate employee information and personnel records in HR systems.
  • Coordinate recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and related activities.

Level II - $56,400.00
Level III - $60,400.00

Job Description

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking a dependable, service-minded professional to join our team as a Human Resources Management Specialist III DPS. Employees support the agency’s mission of protecting the public and serving the people of Oklahoma. The successful candidate will work collaboratively, communicate clearly, and carry out their responsibilities with accuracy, professionalism, and sound judgment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate employee information and personnel records within HR systems and other applicable tracking systems.
  • Coordinate and support recruitment, selection, hiring, onboarding, and other employment-related activities.
  • Monitor assigned personnel actions and HR processes from initiation through completion, ensuring required deadlines and documentation are met.
  • Provide guidance to agency leadership, supervisors, and employees regarding established HR policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and support compliance throughout the employee life cycle.
  • Independently manage assigned HR programs, processes, and responsibilities while exercising sound judgment and appropriate discretion.
  • Communicate effectively and timely with internal and external partners regarding HR processes, requirements, deadlines, and next steps.
  • Assist with special projects, HR initiatives, reporting, and other advanced-level human resources activities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of human resources management principles, policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal laws, rules, and standards.
  • Knowledge of personnel records management, recruitment and hiring practices, and professional business communication.
  • Ability to interpret and consistently apply HR policies and procedures; exercise sound judgment and perform work independently; manage multiple priorities and deadlines; maintain accuracy and confidentiality; communicate effectively with employees, applicants, supervisors, and leadership; and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational, problem-solving, customer service, and follow-through skills.
Education and Experience

Level II - Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree plus one year of professional experience in human resources management; or a master’s degree in human resources or a closely related degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Level III - Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of bachelor’s degree plus two years of professional experience in human resources management; or a master’s degree in human resources or a closely related degree plus one year of professional experience in human resources management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Relevant human resources management experience should include professional level responsibilities in recruitment, personnel administration, classification, compensation, benefits, and/or payroll administration.
