Job summary

Dayton Freight Lines is seeking an in-person Human Resources Intern who will support various HR functions during the school year and summer. The role requires 20–25 hours per week and offers customized training within a professional, people-centered environment.

You will assist with HR/Benefits tasks, manage files, prepare onboarding materials, and support the Employee Relations team with projects and reporting. This internship provides practical experience in HR operations and processes.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Able to commit to 20–25 hours per week during the school year.

Responsibilities

• Assist with HR/Benefits tasks as assigned.
• File and organize Investigative Files.
• Print and distribute Orientation and Employee Handbook booklets.
• Send mail to employees via truck mail when needed.
• Assist HR calls and emails.
• Document processes and job function procedures.
• Support Employee Relations with reports, organizing, and meeting prep.
• Contribute to special HR projects and process improvements.
• Work with the HR team to ensure smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities

As a Human Resources Intern, you will provide support related to various Human Resource functions.

• Assist with HR/Benefits tasks, as assigned
• File and organize the Investigative Files
• Print and distribute Orientation and Employee Handbook booklets, as requested
• Send “Return to Sender” mail to employees via truck mail, as needed
• Assist with HR calls and emails
• Document process and procedures of job functions
• Assist members of the Employee Relations Department with various responsibilities including running and auditing reports, organization, meeting preparation, announcements, etc.
• Work on special projects, as needed
• Continuously look for opportunities to improve processes

• Skillful in Microsoft Office Programs

• Ability to work 20-25 hours during the school year
