Base pay range: $58,000.00/yr - $63,000.00/yr

A nonprofit organization in Midtown is looking for an HR Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations across multiple school sites. This role is ideal for someone early in their HR career who’s ready to take ownership of core HR processes, work directly with employees and leadership, and grow in a mission‑driven environment.
What You’ll Do
- Handle daily HR administration including employee data changes, new hire processing, onboarding, and terminations.
- Maintain accurate employee information across HRIS and payroll systems (Paychex experience is a plus).
- Serve as a point of contact for school leaders and staff, answering questions on payroll, benefits, leaves, and general HR policy.
- Coordinate benefits enrollment and ensure proper documentation for medical, disability, commuter, and retirement plans.
- Support leave‑of‑absence requests (FMLA, NY PFL, STD/LTD) and manage related paperwork.
- Prepare HR reports, spreadsheets, and tracking tools using Excel.
- Partner with HR leadership on employee relations issues and elevate matters appropriately.
- Attend occasional on‑site meetings across various locations.
- Assist with special projects and process improvements as needs arise.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field.
- 1–4 years of HR experience with direct employee interaction.
- Strong communication skills and comfort managing questions from employees and managers.
- Solid Excel and MS Office skills; experience with Paychex or similar HRIS is helpful.
- Ability to prioritize, stay organized, and handle a high‑volume environment.
- Comfortable working independently and traveling to nearby sites when needed.
- Experience with union environments is a plus.
- Spanish bilingual skills are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required.
