Job summary

Grand Canyon University Inc. is seeking an HR Generalist to support employees and leaders across HR functions at our Phoenix campus.

You will serve as a trusted advisor on employee relations, performance management, training, and compliance, helping to drive engagement and retention. Responsibilities include delivering HR services, guiding managers on discipline and conflict resolution, coordinating trainings, and staying current with federal and state labor laws.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR or Business Administration preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources, with strong focus in employee relations required.
• PHR Certification preferred; background check required.

As an HR Generalist, you'll play a key role in supporting employees and leaders across a variety of human resources functions, including employee relations, performance management, training, and compliance. This position serves as a trusted advisor to managers, helping them navigate workplace challenges while driving engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness. Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions

• Deliver HR services to client groups and general HR support to employees, and front-line managers.
• Work closely with management to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
• Manage employee relations situations at assigned location(s); partner with HR Manager as needed to effectively resolve situations; identify trends in employee relations cases to address root cause; educate managers on how to handle situations more effectively.
• Provide guidance and counsel to management staff regarding appropriate progressive discipline and termination steps.
• Monitor and review corrective action and termination documentation for completeness and organizational consistency.
• Identify trends and issues impacting employees and management.
• Identify training and management coaching needs.
• Deliver new manager and other HR-related training to managers.
• Remain abreast of labor laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, etc.) and provide education to location managers/supervisors; coordinate any related situations with HR Service Center (ESC).
• Act as employee advocate as needed.
• Participate in relevant business and HR meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/ Education

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources, with strong focus in employee relations required.
• PHR Certification preferred.
• Must pass background investigation.
