Job description

The HR Generalist is at the heart of the day-to-day employee experience, working with people across the organization while also helping improve the processes that support them. No two days will look the same; you might help a manager work through an employee situation, welcome a new hire, answer an HR question, improve a process, or help roll out a new employee program.

Working closely with the Director of HR and leaders across the organization, this role provides practical HR support while looking for ways to make HR processes more efficient, consistent, and easy to navigate. The HR Generalist will have a hand in a little bit of everything, including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, HR operations, compliance, employee engagement, and process improvement.

The role calls for someone who is approachable, organized, curious, and comfortable rolling up their sleeves; someone with strong emotional intelligence who can build trust with employees and managers, navigate sensitive situations with good judgment, and spot opportunities to make things work better. Construction industry experience is a major plus, particularly for someone who understands the pace, dynamics, and people-centered nature of the industry. A natural problem-solver who enjoys both working with people and improving the processes behind the work will thrive in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Employee Relations: Serve as a resource to employees and managers on workplace concerns, performance issues, conflict resolution, and HR policies, escalating more complex matters as appropriate.
  • Partner with Managers: Provide day-to-day HR guidance to managers and supervisors, helping them navigate employee situations, performance conversations, attendance concerns, and policy application.
  • Support Talent Acquisition: Partner with the recruiting team and hiring managers to support recruiting activities, candidate communication, interviews, offers, and a positive candidate experience.
  • Manage Onboarding & Offboarding: Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities to ensure employees have smooth, consistent experiences from hire through transition or separation.
  • Maintain HR Operations: Support accurate and timely execution of HR processes, employee records, HRIS updates, personnel documentation, and other administrative activities.
  • Support Performance Management: Assist managers and employees with performance management processes, goal setting, documentation, feedback, and development conversations.
  • Strengthen Employee Experience: Support employee engagement and recognition initiatives, assist the HR Director with event planning, and lead internal communications that bring 3C Industries’ values to life and foster a strong, connected, and engaged team.
  • Ensure Policy & Compliance: Help maintain compliance with employment laws, regulations, and company policies while ensuring HR practices are applied consistently across the organization.
  • Support Benefits & Employee Programs: Serve as a resource for employees regarding benefits, policies, leave, and other HR programs while partnering with internal and external resources as needed.
  • Maintain HR Documentation: Ensure employee files, HR records, and documentation are accurate, organized, and maintained in accordance with company policies and compliance requirements.
  • Support HR Programs: Assist with the implementation and administration of HR initiatives, including employee development, engagement, training, recognition, and other people-focused programs.
  • Promote Culture & Accountability: Help reinforce a culture grounded in trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, safety, and delivering value to employees and clients.
  • Use HR Data: Maintain accurate employee data and assist with HR reporting and metrics to identify trends and support informed workforce decisions.
  • Support a Growing Organization: Help improve and standardize HR processes as the company grows, bringing a proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of projects and responsibilities beyond routine HR administration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of direct HR experience required.
  • Experience supporting HR functions within construction, manufacturing, logistics, transportation, utilities, energy, infrastructure, or another operationally complex environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of employee relations, HR policies, performance management, recruiting, onboarding, and HR operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with employees and leaders at all levels.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Practical, solutions-oriented approach to HR with good judgment and the ability to know when to elevate issues.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and Microsoft Office; experience with other HR systems and tools preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with both corporate and field-based employees and leaders.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or other HR certification is a plus.
