Job description

At 3C Industries, we’re not just building structures, we’re building careers, communities, and lasting impact. The Project Engineer is responsible for managing, evaluating, and coordinating all project documentation and construction activities to ensure successful project delivery—on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract specifications. This role serves as the key technical liaison between field operations, design teams, subcontractors, and the client. The Project Engineer also supervises Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks, and Interns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce Safety & Quality Standards: Promote and enforce job site safety in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations. Monitor and uphold quality control processes to ensure alignment with design intent and project specifications.
  • Coordinate with Project Stakeholders: Serve as the main point of contact between architects, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and owner representatives to resolve issues related to plans, specifications, and field conditions.
  • Interpret Construction Documents: Review contract drawings, specifications, and subcontractor scopes to ensure accuracy and consistency with project budgets and schedules.
  • Manage Budget & Cost Controls: Monitor and maintain project budgets. Identify cost‑saving opportunities and support forecasting to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Oversee Submittals & Shop Drawings: Manage the submission, review, and approval process for shop drawings and material submittals. Resolve discrepancies and ensure conformance with contract documents.
  • Prepare & Negotiate Change Orders: Identify scope changes, prepare independent cost analyses, coordinate with subcontractors, and secure approvals from architects and owners.
  • Lead Project Close‑Out: Manage final project documentation, including RFIs, as‑builts, warranties, O&M manuals, attic stock, and spare parts. Ensure all requirements are completed for turnover and contract compliance.
  • Supervise & Mentor Team Members: Provide guidance and oversight to Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks, and Interns. Participate in performance reviews and staff development.
  • Develop & Maintain Project Logs: Create and update essential project records such as safety reports, labor tracking, change order logs, general conditions items, and quality control documentation.
  • Conduct Project Meetings: Schedule and lead subcontractor coordination meetings, preconstruction planning sessions, and submittal review meetings to drive project progress and resolve issues proactively.
  • Define Trade Scopes of Work: Draft and manage detailed scope documents to clearly define subcontractor responsibilities and minimize scope gaps or conflicts.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands regularly in a standard office and field environment.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Work is performed in both office and active construction site settings.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, loud noise levels, airborne particles, and chemicals may occur.
  • Appropriate safety gear is required in the field.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant construction experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of construction documents, specifications, scheduling, and scopes of work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
  • Experience with modern construction technologies including Building Information Modeling (BIM) and LEAN practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
