Job description

Position Overview

At 3C Industries, we’re not just building structures, we’re building careers, communities, and lasting impact. The Project Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring successful project execution by managing, evaluating, and coordinating all technical information required for construction. This position is responsible for ensuring that the project is delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents and quality standards. The Project Engineer is instrumental in translating the project vision into actionable plans and documentation and has supervisory responsibilities over junior engineering staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination & Communication: Act as the primary liaison between architects, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and internal project staff. Interface regularly with the Owner’s representatives to address and resolve issues related to drawings, specifications, and project execution.
  • Contract Document Oversight: Review and manage contract drawings, specifications, and subcontractor scope documents. Ensure that all documentation aligns with the project estimate and intent.
  • Submittals & Shop Drawings: Oversee the submittal and shop drawing process. Review for compliance with contract requirements, and resolve discrepancies or design conflicts in coordination with the project team and design professionals.
  • Change Management: Lead the evaluation and negotiation of change orders. Analyze and document proposed changes, obtain subcontractor pricing, and secure necessary approvals from the Architect and Owner.
  • Budget & Cost Management: Support project cost control efforts by tracking costs, managing procurement, and reviewing invoices and payment applications. Provide regular cost reporting and forecasting.
  • Project Close-Out: Manage the close-out process, including the compilation of final project documentation such as RFIs, warranties, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, attic stock lists, and spare parts. Ensure all close-out deliverables meet contract requirements.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and mentor Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, and Interns. Provide direction, review performance, and support their professional development.
  • Meeting & Report Management: Organize and lead preconstruction meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and submittal review sessions. Prepare and maintain logs and reports related to labor, safety, quality control, general conditions, and change orders.
  • Scope Development: Prepare detailed scopes of work for subcontractor procurement and contract execution.
  • Technology & Innovation: Leverage tools such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Lean Construction methodologies to improve project efficiency and communication.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly required to use hands, reach with arms, and communicate clearly.
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Primarily field-based on active construction sites
  • Regular exposure to weather elements, loud noise, moving machinery, and airborne particles
  • Must be comfortable working in high-risk and high-intensity environments
  • Appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required and provided
