Job summary

St. James Manor & Villas in Illinois is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Director to lead all HR functions at our Extended Care facility. You will oversee employee relations, compliance, and profitability while ensuring a supportive workplace culture.

The role requires 2–3 years HR experience in healthcare, knowledge of federal/state employment laws, and strong communication and confidentiality. This is a full-time position offering comprehensive benefits and room to grow within a respected

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Human Resources Management (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• 2–3 years of HR experience in healthcare.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
• Experience working with union agreements.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Energetic and professional with interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Welcome new hires and lead orientation programs
• Facilitate effective employee relations within the facility
• Manage and maintain confidential employee files
• Administer and interpret HR policies and procedures
• Track employee leave of absence and ensure compliance; assist in benefits administration
• Create and coordinate employee recognition programs and events
• Oversee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
• Prepare HR reports and compliance records
• Monitor unemployment claims and workers’ compensation cases
• Manage hires, terminations, promotions, payroll edits, and salary increases

Human Resources Director Requirements:

• Associate’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
• 2-3 years of general HR experience (Long-term care or healthcare industry experience required)
• Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws
• Experience working with union agreements
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
