Job summary

Indiana University (IU) Indianapolis Campus Human Resources (HR) seeks an experienced HR Administrative professional to support academic and administrative units. You will handle employee requests, scheduling, documentation, and HR data entry with a focus on confidentiality and accuracy.

The role requires 2 years of admin support experience, proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Word, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of administrative support experience, preferably HR-related.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 and standard office applications.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and confidentiality in handling HR data.

Responsibilities

  • Answers employee questions via email, phone, chat, or in person; refers verification requests to payroll.
  • Processes unit eDocs for students, staff, and hourly positions; initiates job postings and screens applicants.
  • Verifies I-9s and submits background/motor vehicle checks; assists in interview scheduling and logistics.
  • Maintains accurate, confidential HR records and generates routine reports for leadership.

HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINISTRATION (IN-HR-IUINA)

Indiana University (IU) Indianapolis Campus Human Resources (HR) is composed of more than 30 human resources professionals. Working alongside campus leadership and IU Human Resources, we serve academic and administrative units across the IU Indianapolis campus. Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions received via email, phone call, instant messaging, or in-person
  • Refers employment verification requests to payroll
  • Processes unit eDocs according to university standards for students, staff, and hourly positions
  • Initiates job postings, screen applicants, disposition applicants, and initiates offers in online applicant systems
  • Verifies I-9 documentation
  • Submits requests for employee background checks and applicable motor vehicle checks
  • Supports interview scheduling and other meetings as needed
  • May assist with preparing interview materials and coordinating candidate logistics
  • Performs other departmental functions as needed to ensure coverage
General Responsibilities
  • Coordinates, processes, verifies, and maintains academic and/or staff HR related documentation, which may include recruitment, training, benefits, employee relations, performance evaluations, classifications, I-9s and employee leaves of absence
  • Assists academic and/or staff HR team by researching information and answering academic and/or staff HR or policy related questions
  • Creates, compiles, prepares reports and documents for academic and/or staff HR related activities
  • May work closely with other academic and/or staff HR functional areas
  • Performs data entry for processing transactions and maintaining and keeping employee information current
  • Provides administrative support to other academic and/or staff HR staff
  • Maintains high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and documents
Education
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
Work Experience
  • 2 years of administrative support (preferably providing HR support using Microsoft 365)

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. $40,000.00 - $44,000.00 annually based on experience
