Job summary

Metro Elevator is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to support day-to-day HR operations across multiple divisions and states, while assisting with weekly payroll processing. The role emphasizes accurate recordkeeping, onboarding, and compliance in a busy, in-office environment with some flexibility to work remotely on Fridays after training.

Ideal candidates will manage HRIS records, assist with job postings and interviews, and help with new hire setup and orientation, all within a small HR

Qualifications

  • Previous HR experience, multi-state/union environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of HR practices, compliance, onboarding, records and payroll.
  • Experience supporting weekly payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with HRIS (iSolved preferred) and MS Office (Excel/Outlook/Word).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy; strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Job Title:
  • Human Resources Assistant at Metro Elevator
Location:
  • 265 High Street, Fl 6, Morgantown, WV 26505 - This is primarily an in-office role, with flexibility possible after training and demonstrated proficiency to work from home on Fridays.
Overview:

At Metro Elevator, Human Resources is about more than policies and paperwork-it's about supporting our employees and helping our teams operate effectively and compliantly. We are seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to support day-to-day HR operations across multiple divisions and states, while also assisting with weekly payroll processing.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, maintaining accurate records, solving problems, and supporting employees throughout the employment lifecycle. The Human Resources Assistant will play an important role in recruiting and onboarding, employee recordkeeping, labor law compliance, drug screening, payroll support, and other HR-related processes.

Key Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Human Resources & Employee Support
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support for HR operations across the organization.
  • Assist employees and local office administrators with HR-related questions and processes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in HRIS and other company systems.
  • Assist with HR communications, forms, documentation, and employee correspondence.
  • Support various HR projects and initiatives as needed.
Recruiting, Hiring & Onboarding
  • Assist with creating and maintaining job postings.
  • Assist with scheduling interviews and coordinating the hiring process.
  • Assist with pre-employment drug screenings and other required background or pre-employment screenings.
  • Coordinate and assist with new employee onboarding across the organization.
  • Ensure required new hire paperwork and documentation is completed accurately and timely.
  • Assist with new hire setup in HRIS, payroll, benefits, and other applicable systems.
  • Support new employee orientation and organizational training initiatives.
Labor Law Compliance & HR Administration
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Help monitor required employment postings, notices, forms, and documentation.
  • Assist with maintaining required HR records and documentation in accordance with federal and state requirements.
  • Support compliance with company policies and procedures.
Payroll Processing
  • Assist with processing weekly payroll for assigned divisions and employees.
  • Support payroll processing for union and non-union employees using the iSolved payroll system.
  • Maintain accurate payroll information in iSolved and the ERP system for all Metro Elevator entities.
  • Assist with reviewing timekeeping and payroll information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Help research and resolve employee payroll questions and discrepancies.
  • Support payroll processing and related responsibilities until local administrators are trained and fully onboarded.
Qualifications / What We're Looking For:
  • Previous experience in Human Resources, preferably in a multi-state and/or unionized environment.
  • Working knowledge of HR practices, employment compliance, onboarding, employee records, and payroll processes.
  • Previous experience supporting and processing weekly payrolls.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (iSolved preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy-takes pride in "getting it right" every time.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong problem solving, initiation, and follow through skills
  • Comfortable working in a small HR/payroll department while collaborating across divisions.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee and company information.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative member of the HR team.
