What you’ll do
The Human Resources and Training Manager provides support to the Center across core HR functions, including employee relations, development, regulatory compliance, compensation initiatives, recruitment, and oversight of training and benefits administration. This role directly supervises the HR Specialist.
- Plan, organize, administer, and measure work activities required by the Human Resources Department.
- Supervise employment activities such as recruitment, testing, reference checking, and related matters.
- Oversee preparation and maintenance of procedures for new hires, transfers, separations, salary changes, and other personnel practices.
- Maintain the wage and salary administration program, including labor grades and position assignment.
- Oversee employee benefits administration, including life, health, long-term disability, tuition reimbursement, and the retirement plan.
- Maintain adequate, accurate records related to the employee benefits program and ensure confidential handling of personnel records.
- Monitor EEO, OFCCP, and Corporate Policies and Procedures.
- Assist supervisors and review discipline documentation, including coaching, verbal and written warnings, suspensions, and terminations.
- Process payroll information and HRIS information accurately and on time.
- Establish and improve employee relations to support high performance.
- Evaluate staff performance, recommend merit increases, and support appropriate discipline actions.
- Provide training and counseling support to staff as needed, including ensuring staff training is conducted and attended.
- Monitor overtime and substitute staff use across department areas, report problematic occurrences to the Center Director, and ensure sound accountability practices (including pre-approval for overtime).
- Hold supervisors and managers accountable for scheduling discrepancies that result in overtime.
- Monitor areas of responsibility to support timely, high-quality services and work toward meeting performance management goals.
What you bring
- 4+ years of related experience and/or training.
- One-year supervisory experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Business Management, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
- Computer literacy with basic functions such as email, internet, and basic programs like Adobe Acrobat.
- Outstanding communication, organizational, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency with payroll and/or HR applications, or the ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to handle employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and mediation.
