We are seeking an organized, personable, and detail-oriented Human Resources Specialistto join our team. This position is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and wants to play an active role in recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and day-to-day HR operations.
The Human Resource Specialist works closely with employees throughout their employment journey—from their first interaction as an applicant through onboarding and ongoing employment. This position assists with a variety of HR, payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee engagement functions.
As our Human Resources Specialist, you will:
Serve as a welcoming and helpful point of contact for applicants and employees.
Assist with recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and new hire orientation.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files, records, and documentation.
Answer employee questions regarding standard HR policies, benefits, hiring processes, and other HR-related matters.
Process and monitor Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) information.
Conduct periodic audits of employee files to ensure required documentation is complete and current.
Process all Workman's Compensation claims
Learn and assist with payroll, including responding to employee questions and helping resolve payroll discrepancies.
Assist with employee engagement and retention initiatives.
Collect and prepare information needed for Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ) reporting.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
At least two years of Human Resources experience
Previous professional office or administrative experience preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information professionally.
Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, employee-focused approach.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn HR, payroll, and other automated systems.
Ability to prioritize routine responsibilities while also assisting with special projects.
Comfortable working with spreadsheets, data entry, calculations, and reporting.
General knowledge of HR practices, benefits administration, onboarding, leave administration, employee relations, and employment standards is preferred.
This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and includes periods of walking, bending, lifting, and other physical activity throughout the workday.
