Novartis is seeking a Manager, Health, Safety and Environment to support the Durham campus expansion and the new RTP, NC facility for Large Molecule production. You will lead robust HSE programs, drive readiness and risk management, and collaborate across sites to ensure safety compliance and operational excellence.

The role acts as Functional Lead for Occupational Safety, integrating safety controls with construction and operations teams, and delivering insights via KPIs and governance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of HSE program development/management in manufacturing or lab environments.
• Experience supporting design/startup of new LMO/ADP facilities and manufacturing operations (PHAs, P&ID review, HSE readiness) is highly desired.
• Strong interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills for cross-functional guidance.

Responsabilités

• Lead design and implementation of HSE programs and controls for safe startup of LMO production operations.
• Integrate LMO HSE requirements into site-wide frameworks, processes, systems, and training.
• Partner with internal teams and external providers to deliver world-class safety performance.
• Serve as trusted HSE advisor on risk management, regulatory compliance, and reporting.
• Drive Occupational Safety excellence through Process Safety, Electrical Safety, Fire Protection, and Emergency Response.
• Embed HSE priorities into daily operations and site strategy.
• Establish and monitor HSE metrics and KPIs for continuous improvement.
• Build HSE capabilities through training and governance structures.
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and technical evaluations for new operations.
• Champion a high-performance safety culture via audits and regulatory interactions.
