Job summary

Novartis Group of Companies is hiring a Manager, Health, Safety and Environment to lead HSE programs for the Durham campus expansion into Large Molecule drug substance production at the RTP facility in NC. You will drive design input, construction safety, and operational readiness before start of operations.

The role will lead Occupational Safety programs across Durham, ensuring robust HSE systems and a proactive safety culture, with metrics and governance to enable site strategy and performance

Qualifications

• 8+ years of HSE program development/management experience in manufacturing or laboratory environments
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
• HSE certifications (CSP, CIH) highly desired
• Experience supporting design/startup of LMO/ADP facilities and manufacturing operations
• Strong interpersonal, coaching and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of HSE programs and controls for safe startup of LMO production
• Integrate LMO HSE requirements into site-wide processes, systems and training
• Collaborate with internal teams and external providers to deliver safety performance
• Serve as trusted HSE advisor on risk management and regulatory reporting
• Drive process safety, electrical safety, fire protection and emergency response programs
• Build HSE capabilities through training and governance structures
