Job summary

Novo Nordisk in Durham, NC seeks an Environmental, Health & Safety SME to support operations as a core EHS expert. You will guide site leadership on PSM, RMP, hazard controls, and risk assessments, while coaching teammates and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will lead complex safety programs, ISO 45001 efforts, and cross-functional safety initiatives, balancing production needs with worker protection in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, biology, occupational safety, environmental science or related field with 7+ years of safety experience.
• Master’s degree or CSP/CIH preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Ability to lead investigations and cross-functional safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Own execution of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP across the site; manage incident investigations.
• Provide expert guidance on chemical hazards, PPE, and safeguards.
• Lead risk assessments (What-if, HAZOP, FMEA) and LOPA; drive improvements.
• Develop life safety programs (permitting, LOTO, fall protection, confined space).
• Support ISO 45001 certification and site KPIs; mentor team members.
• Coordinate cross-functional projects with stakeholders and leadership.
