Job summary

Tekweld in Hauppauge, NY is seeking an HR Specialist to support recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations. You will prepare employment records, explain policies and laws to staff, ensure new hire paperwork is completed, and coordinate job postings, resume reviews, and reference checks.

Responsibilities also include administering training programs, developing performance evaluations, managing engagement efforts, and assisting with background investigations.

Responsibilities

• Preparing or updating employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating
• Explaining human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards to new and existing employees
• Ensuring new hire paperwork is completed and processed
• Informing job applicants of job duties, responsibilities, benefits, schedules, working conditions, promotion opportunities, etc.
• Addressing employment relations issues, such as work complaints and harassment allegations
• Processing all personnel action forms and ensuring proper approval
• Overseeing hiring process, including coordinating job posts, reviewing resumes, and performing reference checks
• Administering training sessions
• Administering on-the-job training programs
• Evaluating the effectiveness of training programs
• Maintaining records of employee participation in training and development programs
• Analyzing job duties
• Performing job evaluations and job analyses
• Interpreting union contracts
• Helping to negotiate collective bargaining agreements
• Resolving grievances
• Assisting with processing employee grievances
• Overseeing engagement programs and other employee relations work
• Developing and administering health and safety programs
• Conducting safety inspections
• Maintaining accident records
• Preparing government reports to remain in compliance
