Job summary

State of Florida is seeking a Human Resource Specialist to oversee employee relations, performance management, and grievance handling within the Bureau of Human Resources. The role reports to the HR Manager and collaborates with legal for disciplinary matters.

The position requires strong knowledge of state personnel rules and excellent written and verbal communication, with a focus on compliance and policy improvement.

Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of human resources related professional work experience (Employee Relations, Corrective Actions, EAP, Performance Management, FMLA, ADA, grievances).
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree and state personnel HR experience.
  • Two or more of: public service interest, State rules knowledge, or HR office experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administers the agency's performance management program.
  • Guides staff in handling daily activities and evaluations.
  • Conducts investigations and responds to formal/informal complaints.
  • Handles employee relations questions to prevent discipline or grievance.
  • Coordinates with HR and legal for disciplinary cases and lawsuits.
  • Reviews policies and recommends revisions for discipline and grievances.
  • Prepares special reports from People First Data Warehouse.
