Job summary

AM Digital Designs in Lawrence, MA is seeking an empathetic HR Specialist to own the employee lifecycle—from sourcing top creative talent to a smooth onboarding experience in a hybrid studio.

You will handle talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits enrollment, and conflict resolution, and drive culture initiatives while ensuring MA labor law compliance. Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred to support our diverse workforce.

Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of HR, People Ops, or recruiting experience.
• Strong recruitment practices for creative/tech roles.
• High emotional intelligence and discretion in sensitive situations.

About the Role

Our studio is only as good as the people designing, writing, and coding inside it. AM Digital Designs is committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and highly motivated team. We need an empathetic, organized HR Specialist to protect and nurture our greatest asset: our staff. You will oversee the entire employee lifecycle, from sourcing the best creative talent to ensuring a smooth, welcoming onboarding experience.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

• Talent Acquisition: Write compelling job descriptions, manage postings across job boards, screen candidate design portfolios, and coordinate interview panels for all open roles.
• Onboarding & Support: Lead orientation for new hires, manage benefits enrollment (health, 401k), and act as a trusted, confidential resource for employee relations and conflict resolution.
• Culture Initiatives: Develop programs to foster team collaboration, mental health, and continuous learning, ensuring a positive, burnout-free studio environment.
• Compliance & Policy: Maintain and update the employee handbook, track PTO/sick leave, and ensure the studio remains strictly compliant with all MA state and federal labor laws.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

• 4–7+ years of experience in Human Resources, People Operations, or Technical Recruiting.
• Strong understanding of recruitment best practices, particularly for creative or tech roles (knowing how to evaluate a UX design portfolio or coding test is a massive plus).
• High emotional intelligence, empathy, and a proven track record of handling sensitive situations with discretion.
• Familiarity with modern HRIS and payroll software (Gusto, Rippling, BambooHR).
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred to support our diverse workforce and community hiring initiatives.

Bonus points if you have:

• SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
• Experience scaling a team from 5 to 20+ employees.

$65,000–$85,000/yr base salary, comprehensive health/dental/vision benefits, generous PTO, dedicated budget for culture initiatives, and a flexible hybrid work environment.
