Job summary

Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking a Personnel Services Specialist-SES to provide professional oversight and support for HR functions within a Florida state agency.

You will review and coordinate personnel files, assist with recruitment, background screenings, subpoenas and public records requests, and maintain People First and related HR data. This role requires meticulous records management and strong communication in a fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

• Ability and willingness to purge, file, move and lift boxes of personnel files up to 30 pounds.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience and desire to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
• Knowledge of office procedures.
• Successful completion of a Level 2 Background Screening and due diligence process.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and support personnel records and public records documentation.
• Process alerts and coordinate with HR Technicians for file maintenance.
• Assist with recruitment and selection procedures, including background screening.
• Respond to subpoenas and public records requests and related documentation.
• Maintain contact lists and data tasks; manage badge programs (ID/ security).
• Back-up HR duties as assigned, including attendance and payroll support.
• Keep HR informed of new or unusual situations; perform related duties as assigned.
