Job summary

Northrop Grumman Federal Credit Union is seeking a temporary Human Resources Policy Specialist to lead a comprehensive audit and rewrite of the employee handbook and HR policies. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, standardize formatting, and collaborate with HR leadership and outside counsel as needed to deliver updated materials.

The role focuses on policy development, adherence to regulatory changes, and producing governance for ongoing handbook

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
• Five or more years of progressive Human Resources experience with policy writing or handbook development.
• Strong knowledge of federal employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII) and state/local requirements.

Responsibilities

• Audit existing handbook and policies to identify gaps and non-compliant content.
• Rewrite and reorganize handbook for clarity and consistency.
• Update policies (PTO/leave, remote/hybrid work, code of conduct, etc.) to align with employment law.
• Flag legal risks and consult leadership/ outside counsel as needed.
• Draft new policies to address gaps in documentation.
• Standardize formatting, numbering, terminology, and version control across policies.
• Collaborate with HR leadership and ADP on handbook builder and policy management.
• Prepare a policy gap analysis and risk summary.
• Develop governance for ongoing handbook and policy maintenance.
