Job summary

Northrop Grumman Federal Credit Union is seeking a temporary Human Resources Policy Specialist to lead a comprehensive audit, rewrite, and reorganization of the employee handbook and related policies. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws while standardizing formatting and terminology across all HR documents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in HR, business, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive HR experience with policy writing/handbook development/compliance.
• Strong knowledge of federal employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII).
• California-specific employment law knowledge (FEHA, CFRA, meal/rest breaks, wage statements, Paid Sick Leave).
• Excellent business writing; ability to translate legal requirements into clear language.

Responsibilities

• Audit existing handbook and HR policies for gaps, non-compliance, and clarity.
• Rewrite and reorganize the handbook for consistency and usability.
• Update policies to align with federal, state, and local laws.
• Flag legal risks and work with leadership and outside counsel as needed.
• Develop governance process and policy maintenance plan.
