Job summary

Rockford is seeking a Payroll/HR Generalist to join our Grand Rapids team. This role focuses on payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR data management, acting as the go-to resource for payroll questions and onboarding support.

Dayforce experience is a plus, and you will collaborate with HR and operations to maintain accurate records, execute open enrollment, and ensure compliance across all HR programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field, or 4–5 years of equivalent experience.
• Payroll processing experience required; benefits administration experience preferred.
• Dayforce or other payroll/HRIS platform experience is a plus.
• Strong organizational, confidentiality, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Foster an environment that supports diversity and belonging.
• Enter new hire information and support onboarding.
• Process timesheets and prepare data for payroll import.
• Update job cost information and payroll adjustments.
• Transmit payroll to vendor and reconcile reports for next cycle.
• Prepare manual checks when needed; process Section 125 reports.
• Register for payroll taxes and resolve locality discrepancies.
• Provide payroll data for workers' compensation audits.
• Review and process expense reimbursements.
• Maintain payroll/HRIS reporting database.
• Administer benefits enrollment and lead annual open enrollment.
• Reconcile benefits statements and conduct payroll/benefits audits.
• Assist with FMLA, STD, and LTD leave administration.
• Maintain PTO and other balances; monitor unemployment claims.
• Coordinate COBRA with third-party administrator.
• Maintain ACA data; verify I-9s; manage electronic personnel files.
• Support recruiting, scheduling interviews, and new hire paperwork.
• Assist with performance review setup and HR programs.
