Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a Human Resources Operations Specialist to support our corporate and internal customers in Tysons Corner, VA. The role focuses on HRIS/ATS administration, reporting, and process improvements across HR teams.

You will maintain employee records, prepare executive reports, and help coordinate onboarding and training initiatives. The candidate must be detail oriented, able to multi-task, and comfortable handling confidential information in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of HR experience, including onboarding and HRIS/ATS exposure.
• BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with HRIS and ATS platforms.
• Project management skills: planning, tracking, and delivering against deadlines with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal, writing, and communication skills.
• Detail and action oriented, with the ability to multi-task and work independently.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel for data analysis.
• Working knowledge of HR principles and compliance.
• Local to the DMV area; in the McLean, VA office 2-3 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Identify, prioritize, and monitor system and process improvement opportunities, and partner with the team to implement them.
• Support HRIS transaction processing and administration to ensure timely and accurate updates.
• Validate data accuracy, run reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies; maintain system documentation and process maps.
• Conduct employee new hire orientation and help organize training and development initiatives.
• Maintain onboarding workflows to deliver a consistent, positive experience for every new hire.
• Assist in coordinating HR programs and events, such as performance reviews, benefit and policy updates, company surveys, and additional initiatives as needed.
• Maintain accurate employee records, files, and confidential HR correspondence.
• Prepare executive facing reports and presentations and assist with company-wide communications.
• Support integration, migration, and cleanup of employee data across HR systems (ADP WorkforceNow, iCIMS, Fresh Service, and related tools).
• Adapt to evolving business needs by taking on additional responsibilities as required.
• 2-3 days in Steampunk office in McLean, VA – additional availability as required
