Job summary

The Old Globe, a Tony Award-winning regional theatre in San Diego's Balboa Park, seeks an experienced HR Associate for a full-time, on-site role. You will support onboarding, records, payroll, benefits, and HR systems, ensuring compliant and positive employee experiences.

Reporting to the Director of HR, you will help develop policies, manage HRIS (Paycom), track training via LMS, and prepare reports for audits and grants. A strong communicator with 2–4 years HR experience is ideal.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, HR operations, HR technology, or a related administrative function.
• Experience using HR technologies and systems, including HRIS platforms and payroll systems (Paycom strongly preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word and Excel required.
• Experience with digital form building tools (Adobe Acrobat, FillOut, Airtable).
• Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
• Strong administrative, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication, working with staff, patrons, and vendors.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist in execution of core HR functions including onboarding, offboarding, employee records and compliance documentation.
• Support payroll coordination and benefits administration using digital tools and employer portals.
• Coordinate training programs and track completion using LMS.
• Maintain and optimize ATS and assist with recruitment workflows.
• Run HR reports and provide actionable insights for audits and grants.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations.
• Draft and maintain HR documents, policies, and communications.
• Support a positive employee experience and respond to inquiries.
