Job summary

Norfolk Southern is seeking a Human Resource Analyst in Honolulu, Hawaii, to handle day-to-day HRIS actions and to analyze HR data, metrics, and statistics for leadership decisions. This role leads transformational changes within HR across the organization.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience and strong Excel and Office skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, information systems, psychology, or a business-related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel including PivotTables, INDEX/MATCH, VLOOKUP, IF/AND statements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Execute personnel and organizational changes within the HRIS (SuccessFactors).
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, training, and guidance to HRIS users.
  • Compile and analyze HR metrics and data from multiple sources, including the HRIS.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards, present findings to senior leadership, and recommend actionable changes.
  • Identify and recommend short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics.
  • Answer frequently asked questions via phone and electronically from employees and external parties regarding standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refer more complex questions to appropriate HR staff or other department supervisors.
  • Complete Forms I-9, verify I-9 documentation, and maintain I-9 files.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the HR department, including reconciling invoices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Human Resource Analyst role is responsible for executing day‑to‑day functions involving the processing of organizational management actions in the HRIS (SuccessFactors). The analyst will collect, compile, and analyze HR data, metrics, and statistics, and apply these insights to make recommendations to HR leadership. The position will be part of, and lead, transformational changes within HR that impact the department and the broader organization.

Education & Experience
