Job summary

Actus Consulting Group in Northville, MI is seeking an experienced HR Manager to oversee day-to-day HR operations for its U.S. organization.

This hands-on leadership role manages employee relations, recruitment, performance management, compensation and benefits, payroll coordination, policy administration, compliance, and employee development. The HR Manager will work with senior management, supervise an HR team member, and coordinate with outside counsel on legal matters.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years of progressive HR experience with management responsibilities.
• Hands-on HR policies, employee relations, recruiting, benefits, and compliance.
• Strong supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. employment practices and laws.
• Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
• Manufacturing sector experience preferred.
• Experience in a global or international organization is a plus.
• Automotive industry experience is a plus.
• Japanese language skills or exposure to Japanese-affiliated organizations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day HR operations for the U.S. organization.
• Provide HR guidance to management and staff.
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding.
• Maintain and update Employee Handbook and HR policies.
• Coordinate performance reviews and payroll-related activities.
• Support compensation planning and HR budgeting.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Coordinate immigration/work authorization with external professionals.
• Lead HR training, safety programs, and company events.
• Supervise an HR team member and maintain confidential records.
• Serve as primary contact with outside legal counsel.
• Handle non-HR matters as coordination point.
