An established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead day-to-day human resources operations and support employees and management across the organization. The company operates in a multicultural business environment with close interaction between U.S. and Japanese management.

Position Summary

The HR Manager will oversee a broad range of HR functions, including recruiting, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, compliance, payroll support, health and safety, and HR administration. This role requires a hands-on HR Generalist who is comfortable serving as both a management resource and employee advocate.

The ideal candidate will have substantial recruiting experience for both salaried and hourly employees, strong HR systems skills, and the ability to work effectively across departments and cultures.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage recruiting, onboarding, training, retention, and employee development programs.
• Recruit for salaried and hourly positions and coordinate hiring activities with management.
• Serve as a resource and advocate for employees while supporting managers with employee relations matters.
• Develop, administer, and consistently apply HR policies and procedures.
• Support compensation administration, job descriptions, performance evaluations, salary structures, and market reviews.
• Administer employee benefits and recommend program improvements.
• Maintain HR records, reporting, employee data, and HR systems.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws.
• Coordinate workplace health and safety programs and OSHA compliance.
• Oversee or support payroll administration.
• Advise management on U.S. HR practices and support communication within a multicultural organization.
• Coordinate employee training and development activities.
• Manage departmental goals, budgets, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with external IT or other business service providers as needed.
• Support general administrative and business functions where appropriate.

Qualifications

Required:

• Strong HR Generalist background with broad, hands-on HR experience.
• Significant recruiting experience, including both salaried and hourly positions.
• Strong employee relations skills and ability to work effectively with employees and management.
• Working knowledge of employment law, HR policies, benefits, compensation, and HR administration.
• Strong technology skills, including HR systems and general business software.
• Strong communication, organization, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Prior HR leadership, supervisory, or management experience.

Preferred:

• Experience working within a Japanese-affiliated or multicultural organization.
• Manufacturing or distribution industry experience.
• Experience in a non-union environment.
• Automotive manufacturing experience.
• General accounting or financial administration knowledge.
• Payroll, workplace safety, or IT/vendor coordination experience.

Other Details

The successful candidate should be comfortable operating as a hands-on HR leader within a lean organization and handling both strategic and day-to-day HR responsibilities.

This role may include additional responsibilities as needed based on business needs.
