Job summary

City of Seattle's Seattle Center is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join a small, collaborative team. The role emphasizes full-cycle recruitment and HR support across leaves, safety, benefits and employee relations, with an equity lens to reduce disparities in city government and the broader community.

Regular hours are 20 hours a week, with potential up to 40 during peak hiring periods; some remote work is possible.

Qualifications

• One year of responsible professional public personnel administration experience.
• A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, HRM, business administration or related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a full cycle talent acquisition and retention experience.
• Promote excellent candidate experience including offers, background checks and onboarding.
• Utilize social media recruiting to strengthen Seattle Center’s employment brand.
• Interpret and apply employment laws, personnel rules, and bargaining agreements.
• Maintain confidentiality of HR data and employee information.
• Drive continuous process improvement focusing on equity, efficiency and consistency.
• Plan and participate in job fairs, workshops, and employee events; build relations.
• Maintain HRIS records and ensure accurate record-keeping.
• Assist with benefits issues, changes in family status, and payroll deductions.
• Support tracking of Employee/Labor Relations cases and contract interpretation.
