Job summary

Six Degrees Search is partnering with a financial services firm in Wheaton, IL to identify an HR Generalist focused on benefits and recruiting. The role is hands-on, not a traditional people-management position, and requires initiative, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate will oversee full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, HR operations, and office processes, contributing to scalable HR practices as the organization grows.

Qualifications

• 3–10 years of progressive HR experience; flexible for right mix of skills.
• Hands-on experience with recruiting, onboarding, and benefits administration.
• Experience in financial services, banking, insurance, mortgage, or related industry preferred.
• Familiarity with HR systems, payroll processes, and employment compliance.
• Experience with benefits brokers and insurance carriers is a plus.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and take initiative.
• Comfortable in a smaller organization where responsibilities may evolve.
• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruiting & onboarding: manage full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, and documentation.
• Benefits administration & employee relations: coordinate benefits programs and answer questions.
• HR operations & process improvement: maintain HR systems, payroll coordination, policy development.
• Business & office operations: support leadership and vendor relationships, drive internal initiatives.
