Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented HR Generalist to oversee weekly payroll, timekeeping, and leave administration for our manufacturing workforce at the Walker, MI plant.

You will collaborate with leaders to ensure accurate payroll, maintain confidential records in HRIS, and support recruiting, benefits, and employee relations in a fast-paced environment.

This role emphasizes confidentiality, accuracy, and timely action to keep payroll compliant and employees engaged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field
• PHR Certification preferred
• Experience in payroll administration for hourly staff
• Experience with HRIS/HCM systems (Workday preferred)

Responsibilities

• Oversee weekly payroll processing for hourly staff and audit timecards.
• Maintain timekeeping records and attendance data integrity.
• Investigate payroll discrepancies and overtime issues promptly.
• Manage garnishments and wage attachments in compliance with laws.
• Coordinate leave programs (FMLA, ADA) and return-to-work processes.
• Serve as primary contact for payroll and leave inquiries.
• Support payroll audits, reporting, and HR documentation.
• Assist onboarding, benefits, and new hire processing.
• Provide guidance on employee relations and policy interpretation.
• Coach supervisors on attendance concerns and policy adherence.
