Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support onboarding, compliance, performance management, and employee engagement across the Houston-Galveston area.

The role partners with Talent Acquisition and HRBP teams to manage pre-employment processes, maintain records in HRIS, and coordinate annual and 12-month performance cycles, while ensuring an engaging work environment and compliance with agency policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field with 3 years of HR experience in an HR Specialist, Coordinator, or Generalist role.
• High School Diploma or GED with 5 years of HR experience in an HR role.
• Must have a Notary Certificate or obtain within 6 months of employment
• Valid Texas Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Stay up-to-date with employment laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to employee engagement and HR compliance.
• Coordinate and complete I-9 and E-verify with Talent Acquisition Specialist and HRBP’s.
• Facilitate the pre-boarding process with pre-hire to complete documentation in compliance with funder and agency requirements.
• Ensure pre-hire files are accurate and complete for all new hires (prior to start date).
• Maintain employee records to ensure compliance (Driver’s License, vehicle insurance, Safe Haven, TPCN, professional license, funder background check).
• Perform audits monthly, yearly, and bi-yearly to ensure online employee files are up to date.
• Process and review criminal history records, pre-employment drug tests, references, and other new-hire materials.
