HL Mando America Corp seeks an HR Generalist to support all HR functions including employee relations, compliance, performance management, recruitment, onboarding, training, and policy administration in Auburn Hills, MI.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the HR function.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Knowledge of immigration and visa processes is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with labor/employment laws and internal policies; participate in internal audits.
  • Coordinate employee leave requests (FMLA, personal, disability, ESTA).
  • Assist in managing employee relations and handle inquiries and investigations.
  • Coordinate onboarding and new hire orientation; collect paperwork and complete I-9s; maintain records.
  • Facilitate performance management, coaching, and development conversations.
  • Maintain data accuracy in HRIS and compile monthly analytics.
  • Recruiting: interview and hire qualified applicants with department input.
  • Track training participation and reporting for audits/regulatory purposes.
  • Collaborate with outside immigration counsel on H-1B, PERM, and related processes.

Job Summary

The HR Generalist is a key member of the Human Resources team, responsible for supporting all areas of HR including employee relations, legal and regulatory compliance, performance management, leave of absences, recruitment, onboarding, training, and policy administration.

This role requires a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multitasking environment and demonstrates strong initiative in improving processes, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring full compliance with employment laws. The HR Generalist supports both employees and leadership while fostering a positive and inclusive culture.

Key Responsibilities

(other duties may be assigned as needed):

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with labor/employment laws, regulations, and internal policies to minimize risk. Participate in internal audits.
  • Leave of Absences:Coordinate employee leave requests (e.g., FMLA, personal, disability, ESTA), ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Employee Relations: Assist in managing team member relations by responding to questions, issues, or concerns. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations.
  • Onboarding: Coordinate and schedule new hire orientation, conduct orientation for all newly hired employees; collect new hire paperwork, complete I9s, and maintain records as needed.
  • Performance Management: Facilitate performance management activities, including coaching managers on effective feedback, performance improvement plans (PIPs), and development conversations.
  • HR Data Analytics: Responsible for maintaining data accuracy within HR systems and compiling data analytics on a monthly cadence.
  • Recruiting: Interviews and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Training: Track, document, and report on training participation and compliance using HRIS/LMS systems, maintaining accurate records for audits and regulatory purposes.
  • Immigration & Compliance: Partner with outside immigration counsel to support H-1B, PERM, and other employment-based immigration processes, ensuring timely document preparation and internal coordination.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of previous or related experience in the HR function
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
  • Knowledge of immigration and visa processes is strongly preferred
  • Prefer HR professional capable of working independently with minimal supervision
