About the Role:
We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team and support the day-to-day human resources operations of our manufacturing facility. This position will play an important role in supporting employees and managers, maintaining accurate employee records, administering HR processes, and ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
The ideal candidate is a bilingual HR professional who is organized, approachable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with employees at all levels and confidently handle sensitive and confidential information.
Responsibilities:
- Support daily HR operations and provide guidance to employees and supervisors on HR-related matters.
- Assist with the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, new-hire paperwork, employee changes, transfers, and separations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel records.
- Administer and maintain employee information within ADP, ADP Workforce Now, or a similar HR/payroll system.
- Assist with payroll processing, timekeeping, attendance tracking, and employee payroll questions.
- Monitor employee attendance and assist management with attendance-related documentation and follow-up.
- Support recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding activities.
- Coordinate new-hire orientations and required employment documentation.
- Assist with employee relations matters, investigations, corrective actions, and performance documentation.
- Partner with supervisors and managers to ensure company policies and procedures are consistently followed.
- Help maintain and update employee handbooks, policies, forms, and HR procedures.
- Maintain compliance with applicable federal and Michigan employment laws and regulations.
- Stay informed of changes to employment laws and HR best practices affecting Michigan employers.
- Assist with required employment postings, records, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Support benefits administration and assist employees with general benefits questions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee information and sensitive HR matters.
- Provide bilingual communication and HR support to English- and Spanish-speaking employees.
- Assist with employee training, workplace policies, safety-related HR initiatives, and other HR programs as needed.
- Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of Human Resources experience.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish, including the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Experience using ADP, ADP Workforce Now, or a similar payroll/HRIS system.
- Working knowledge and understanding of employment laws and HR practices in Michigan.
- Knowledge of basic HR principles, employee relations, payroll, attendance, onboarding, and personnel administration.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with management and employees.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources or any other related field.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, food manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, or production environment.
- Experience supporting hourly employees and multiple shifts.
- Experience with employee investigations and corrective action documentation.
- Experience with recruiting and high-volume hiring.
- Familiarity with OSHA, workplace safety requirements, and food manufacturing environments.
This position is primarily based in a food manufacturing/production environment and requires regular interaction with employees and supervisors on the production floor and in office settings. Part-Time or Full Time availability, (minimum 24 hours)
The HR Generalist must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change throughout the day and where timely communication and follow-through are essential.
