Job summary

Mecklenburg-Ems-Agency is seeking a dedicated HR Generalist to manage day-to-day benefit operations, open enrollment tasks, and HR administration in Charlotte, NC. You will partner with payroll, vendors, and internal teams to ensure accurate record keeping and responsive service to staff.

The role supports recruitment activities, pre-employment reviews, and program administration, while promoting employee wellness and adherence to HR policies and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education/experience.
• 2 years HR Generalist work preferred.
• PHR, SHRM-CP and NC Notary preferred.
• Strong customer service and confidentiality in handling employee data.

Responsibilities

• Administer day-to-day activities related to health and welfare benefit programs and serve as a primary resource for employee benefit questions.
• Process benefit enrollments for newly eligible employees and separations, updating vendor systems.
• Conduct routine audits of enrollments, eligibility, deductions, and termination records.
• Serve as liaison between employees, county, benefit vendors, payroll, and internal stakeholders to resolve benefits questions.
• Assist with Open Enrollment planning, communications, materials, and enrollment support.
• Administer Tuition Reimbursement and Paramedic Incentive Programs and other employee programs as needed.
• Act as HR contact for Wellness Committee and coordinate committee activities.
• Support wellness initiatives—health screenings, health fairs, flu shots, wellness challenges, and education.
• Identify opportunities to improve awareness and participation in benefits and wellbeing programs.
