Job summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College, a public open-access institution in Shelby County, seeks a Human Resources Generalist to provide expert guidance across benefits, compensation, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.

You will partner with the Director of People and Culture, handle open enrollment, maintain HR data, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting college-wide talent initiatives.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in HR, business, or related field.
• 3–5 years HR experience in generalist roles, higher ed preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office and HRIS analytics; experience with Ellucian Banner preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and support on employment issues and HR best practices.
• Coach management and staff to promote effective communication and development conversations.
• Collaborate with managers to identify org design, development or training needs.
• Coordinate performance evaluations and ensure timely, constructive feedback.
• Analyze data to identify workforce trends and generate reports for leadership.
• Assist in health, welfare, and retirement program guidance and enrollment.
• Review documentation for accuracy and compliance; prepare reports.
• Support annual open enrollment and present benefit information to employees.
• Assist with compensation program administration and job change processing.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR data in systems.
