Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN is seeking an Area HR Generalist to support HR functions across campuses. You will communicate with senior management and coordinate employee relations and HR initiatives.

The role requires a Bachelor's in HR, 3+ years HR generalist experience, and PHR/SPHR designation preferred. Travel to Memphis and Tusculum is required two times per month to support multi-site HR activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• PHR or SPHR designation strongly preferred.
• Three plus years human resources generalist experience required; management experience a plus.
• HR experience at a large, multi-unit organization required.
• Experience in centralized HR environment, preferably corporate.
• Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills; advanced skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all Company HR related policies are applied consistently.
• Coaches associates and management through complex issues; guides on disciplinary actions; assists with on-site investigations.
• Oversees MyOpportunity for hourly recruitment and onboarding.
• Maintains and coordinates associate recognition programs.
• Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws.
• Regularly runs and/or reviews HR activity reports.
• Supports internal customer survey and associate engagement survey interpretation/feedback.
• Attends department manager meetings to increase HR visibility and implements HR initiatives.
• Reviews requests for pay increases to ensure internal equity; processes status change forms.
• Prepares, coordinates and presents HR related topics and training.
• Acts as diversity champion by leading diversity recruiting, retention and promotion goals.
• Assists in creating Personal Development Plans for associates.
• Participates in the Annual Performance Appraisal process.
