Job summary

Chartwells Higher Ed seeks an Area HR Generalist to support HR functions at Tennessee Tech University and other Tennessee campuses. The role requires strong employee relations knowledge, effective communication with senior management, and analytical capabilities to drive HR initiatives.

Must travel twice per month for overnight trips to Memphis and Tusculum. Excellent benefits accompany the position offering a chance to grow within a diverse organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• PHR or SPHR designation strongly preferred.
• Three+ years HR generalist experience; management experience a plus.
• HR experience at a large, multi-unit organization.
• Experience with centralized HR environment, preferably in a corporate setting.
• MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
• Knowledge of employment law, policies, procedures, and programs.
• Strong presentation skills required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all Company HR related policies are applied consistently.
• Coaches associates and management through complex issues; advises on disciplinary action; assists with investigations.
• Oversees MyOpportunity for hourly recruitment and onboarding.
• Maintains and coordinates associate recognition programs.
• Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws.
• Runs and reviews HR activity reports.
• Supports internal customer survey and engagement feedback processes.
• Attends manager meetings to increase HR visibility and delivers HR initiatives.
• Reviews salary change requests for internal equity and consistency.
